 June 28, 12:30 - 3 pm pm, Polish Festival Volunteer Orientation

This is a volunteer orientation meeting for all folks helping to run Seattle Polish Festival  on July 11. It includes a show and tell, parking passes, final details etc, and you can also sign up on the spot! There is still plenty 2 hr and 4 hr shifts available so if you would like to help, review the openings and sign up right away! Please see the festival volunteer page or this memo for more details and info how to sign up for a specific role and shift, or contact the PF volunteer coordinator Monte Bridges.

June 27, 1 pm: Polish Book Club Meeting at  the Redmond Library

The book for the meeting is Niewazkosc by Julia Fiedorczuk, published by Wyd. Marginesy in 2015. Ms. Fiedorczuk, 40, is a poet, writer as well as a literary critic and translator, she works at the Warsaw University. Niewazkosc describes a day in life of three vwomen who grew up in a small town and now live very different life in Warsaw. This event is in Polish.

June 20, 10 am - 2 pm: The Weed Party at the Polish Cultural Center

The Polish Home Assn invites all members and friends of the Polish Home to join the WEED PARTY between 10 am and 2 pm - drop by anytime! The goal is to improve the landscaping, install weed barriers, spread bark and wood chips on the green strips and flower beds around Polish Home. The PHA will provide good company and lunch after work around 1-2 PM. 

 

Where: at the Polish Cultural Center Dom Polski; please bring your trusted gardening tools, shovels, rakes, wheelbarrow, if you can.

June 20, 7 pm: Play Opowiesci Poli Negri at the Polish Cultural Center

The Polish Theatre of Toronto presents a play in Polish Opowiesci Poli Negri written and directed by Kazimierz Braun and starring Maria Nowotarska and Agata Pilitowska. The play is about the famous star of the silent movie era who was Polish. Mr. Braun is a writer, playwright, director and a university professor based in Buffalo, NY.

June 19, 7:30 pm: Variety Show at the Polish Cultural Center

The Polish Choir Vivat Musica and director Scott Fiske invite everyone to a variety show. The program includes: Polish choral music by Vivat Musica!, Reid Wolch - piano, Society Dues - a capella quartet, Brenton Forschey - musical theatre and pop guitar, Susan Hayden - American folk music, Serhiy Tychanski - art songs, Jerzy Staszak - songs from Warsaw. The Polish Home restaurant is open from 6 pm.

June 14, 12 - 5 pm: Annual Parish Festival at St. Margaret

St. Margaret of Scotland

The Polish Parish of St. Margaret of Scotland in Seattle cordially invites everybody to the yearly Parish Festival that starts with a Holy Mass at noon. Attractions from 1:30 pm include: games and entertainment for children with a bouncy castle, a lottery and a soccer game of adults vs. youth at 4:30 pm. Also available delicious Polish food, home made desserts, a beer garden and booths by vendors.

June 13, 6 pm: The White Eagle Band Anniversary Concert in Victoria, BC

The White Eagle Band of Victoria celebrates its tenth anniversary with a special Biesiada concert that includes guest performances by a dance group from Calgary, Harbour's End Band and others. The group led by Ryszard Rudzki consists of several musicians and a choir. It presented the Polish highlands music to enthusiastic audiences at the Seattle Polish Festival and Pierogi Fest in Seattle several times in the past. If you can go on a trip to Victoria, this concert is worth it! Congratulations!

June 7, 2:30 pm: Children Program Prezent dla Mamy at the Polish Cultural Center

The Young Polanie Children Group of the Polish Home presents a program Prezent dla Mamy written and directed by Barbara Strutynski. All children are invited! This event is in Polish.

till June 7: Venerating the Black Madonna at St. Margaret Church

The Polish Parish in Seattle is hosting an icon of Our Lady Of Czestochowa. It is a faithful replica of the famous medieval Black Madonna icon from the Jasna Gora sanctuary in Czestochowa, Poland. The icon arrives on May 30 and will be available for veneration until June 7. Each day there will be special intentions and prayers, details are available at the St. Margaret Church website. The Parish invites everybody to join in prayers with Our Lady, the Black Madonna.

June 5, 7:30 pm: Malgorzata Kellis in Concert in Portland

Polish Hall presents a concert in the series Polish Music at the Polish Hall by Malgorzata Kellis. Dr. Kellis is a soprano and has been performing in many European countries as well as the USA. She is also an educator and producer of musical events. The concert program includes songs by several Polish composers including Stachowicz, Lutoslawski, Kilar, Karlowicz, Chopin and others.

 June 2 & 3, 9 am - 5 pm: Consular Visit to Seattle at the Polish Cultural Center

The Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in Los Angeles kindly informs that the consular visit to Seattle to process passport applications only is scheduled for June 2 & 3, 2015. The Consul will be available at the Polish Cultural Center from 9 am to 5 pm both days by reservation only. To make a reservation send an email to [email protected] stating your name, DOB, the PESEL number and a preferred time.
