Oct 31, 7-9 pm: Halloween Party for Children at the Polish Cultural Center

The Polish Scout Troop Kaszuby invites all children to a Halloween party. The program includes: games & contests with awards, snacks & sweets, music etc. Organized & mc-ed by the scout masters and the scout leaders from the troop. There will be something interesting for every age group!

 

Where: lower hall at the Polish Cultural Center Dom Polski; admission free; parents of kids age 4 and younger must be present all time.

Oct 26, 10 am: Cleanup Day at the Polish Cultural Center

Help needed! The Board of Trustees of the Polish Home Association invites officers, members and friends of the Polish Home to participate in a common effort to clean the Polish Cultural Center. There will be work inside of the building, especially in the attic and at the lower level backstage and outside - please bring up your own landscaping tools. Free pizza and soft drinks will be provided to all the volunteers! Let's do it together and have a satisfaction and pride of work well done for the common good!

Where: at the Polish Cultural Center Dom Polski from 10 am to 1 pm, every pair of hands helps! Free lunch served!

Oct 26, 11 am: Polish Book Club Meeting at  the Green Lake Library

The book for the meeting is Morfina by Szczepan Twardoch, published by Wyd. Literackie in 2012. Morfina tells a story of a German-Polish aristocrat who faced with hard choices of WWII conflict between Germany and Poland does not really want to choose any side preferring his morphine shots and womanizing. The book was nominated to the Paszport Polityki awards in 2012. Twardoch, 34, is a Silesian author who published several novels and short stories.

Oct 22-26, 7 pm: Maria Vargo in a Monodrama Faustina in Everett and elsewhere

St. Faustina

This monodrama about St. Faustina featuring Maria Vargo as the Polish born nun Maria Faustina has been directed by Leonardo Defilippis of Saint Luke Productions. St. Faustina, born Helena Kowalska in 1905 in Glogowiec is famous for her visions and dialogs with Jesus published in her diary.

 

Where: At different Catholic churches in the Washington state:  St Cecilia in Stanwood on Oct 22 at 7 pm, St. Pius X in Montlake Terrace on Oct 23 at 7 pm, St. Mary in Anacortes on Oct 25 at 7 pm, Immaculate Conception in Everett on Oct 26 at 6:30 pm. Admission free.

Oct 19, 7 pm: Duo Klavitarre In Concert at the Polish Cultural Center

Duo Klavitarre is a musician couple of Joanna Ziemska (piano) and Maciej Ziemski (classical guitar). Both husband and wife are accomplished musicians with solo careers; as a duo, they give concerts since 2003, with the musical range spanning from baroque & classical through romantic to modern. The restaurant & the bar will be open from 5:30 pm.

Oct 18, 4:30 pm: Ewa Skardowska in a Kurylewicz Concert at Benaroya

Ewa Skardowska

The Seattle International Piano Festival (SIPF) presents a concert Kurylewicz - World of Piano by a guest pianist Ewa Skardowska. The program features piano miniatures by Polish composer Andrzej Kurylewicz. Dr. Skardowska comes to Seattle as a juror at the SIPF; she is an active performing artist as well as a professor of Piano Chamber Music at the Frederic Chopin University of Music in Warsaw.

Oct 18, from 8:30 pm: Bob Kozak Duo at Sebi's Bistro in Seattle

Come to Polish owned Sebi's Bistro to enjoy great music and delicious cuisine. Dress to impress and dance to music by Bob Kozak Duo. The duo includes multi-instrumentalist Bob Kozak (accordion) and Slava Alexandrov (classic guitar). Music from 8:30 pm to 11:30 pm, the restaurant is open till midnight.

Oct 11: Tribute to Roman Polanski at the Seattle Polish FF

The opening night for the Seattle Polish Film Festival is a tribute to Roman Polanski with two movies. Documentary Roman Polanski: A Film Memoir features 2011 interviews with the famous director reflecting on his life and his criminal case as well as excerpts from many of his films and quotes from famous directors and actors. The second movie is his famous 1962 feature debut Knife in the Water (an Oscar nomination for a debut, no less); this psychological drama established his reputation as a director. Both screenings are free courtesy the King County Arts Commission.

Oct 6, 4 pm: PHF Volunteer Appreciation Party at the Polish Cultural Center

& Pierogi Fest

Polish Home Foundation cordially invites all PHF volunteers and their significant others to a volunteer appreciation party of the season. This will be a night of toasts, good cheer, music and gourmet Polish delight honoring volunteer time, enthusiasm and talent supporting PHF events including Polish Festival at the Seattle Center and Pierogi Fest. The event includes: toast, raffle, DJ music and more ..
