Polish American Chamber of Commerce Pacific Northwest invites everybody to the conference Polish Presidency in the EU - opportunities in trade and business development for the Pacific Northwest.  Speakers include His Excellency Robert Kupiecki, the Ambassador of the Republic of Poland to the United States, Nicole Piasecki, Boeing Vice President of Business Development and Eric Stewart, President of US-Poland Business Council.

July 24, from 6 pm: Celebrating the 20th Anniversary of SGSCA at Ivar's Salmon House

Seattle Gdynia Sister City Association invites everybody to a celebration of the 20th anniversary of the organization and its achievements. Among others, SGSCA produces yearly Seattle Polish Film Festival, runs  the Gdynia Business Week summer school program and exchange programs. The organization has just won the 2011 Best Overall Program Award from the City. With special guests from City of Gdynia and City of Seattle. No host bar from 6 pm, Makah Potlatch buffet dinner from 7 pm.

July 20, 10:15 am: Polish Story Time Poczytajka at the Lake Hills Library in Bellevue

This is a summer edition of the popular Polish Story Time Poczytajki meetings for the youngest members of the Polish community. In this meeting: children games along with reading and all of it in Polish.  Organized by Joanna Wroblewska and the King County Library System.

July 15 - 17: PKS plays in the 2011 All Nations Cup in Tukwila

The Polish soccer club of Seattle (PKS) plays again in All Nations Cup in Tukwila this year. In 2008 the team advanced to the semi-finals, in 2009 & 2010 it exited at the group level. Better luck this year! Come to cheer the team Poland in the qualifier round:

 July 14, 7 pm: Memorial Reception to Honor Mr. Jerzy Friedrich at the Polish Cultural Center

Jerzy Friedrich

Mr. Jerzy Friedrich, a Polish patriot & WWII veteran and a longtime active member of the Polish community in Seattle, died on June 14, 2011. Polish Home Association invites the Polish community to a public memorial reception at the Polish Cultural Center to honor his memory. There will be a memorial book available to sign.

July 9, 7 pm: Ewelina Kobryn debuts in Seattle at the Key Arena

Ewelina Kobryn

Ewelina Kobryn, one of the best Polish basketball players, has signed up with the Seattle Storm. Storm of course is the current champion of the Woman National Basketball Assn. Ms. Kobryn, who is 6' 3" and plays the center, had already played with Storm on the east coast. Her debut in Seattle comes on July 9, against LA Sparks. till Aug 3: Paintings by Izabela Gabrielson at Starbucks in Leschi

Izabela Szczypinska-Gabrielson is a local artist who recently moved to Seattle from the east coast. Her portfolio includes drawing and paintings as well as photographs and book illustrations. Her background includes studies in art history in Lublin, Poland, and in visual design and arts in New York.

Till July 11: G. Bienczycki in Performance Art Exhibition at the City Hall Galleries

City Hall Galleries present Performance / Art, an exhibition by a quartet of Seattle based photographers, including Gabriel Bienczycki. The exhibition photographs capture the essence of performances art in incredible lush images that both show the art and are the art. Mr. Bienczycki trained for ballet and modern dance but works as a photographer, cinematographer and audio engineer.

 

Where: Seattle City Hall Lobby Gallery and Anne Focke Gallery, from 7 am to 6 pm, Mon-Fri, till July 11.

July: The Polish Cultural Center open in July

In July 2011, the Polish Cultural Center in Seattle is open on Friday nights as usual, including the restaurant and the bar. It's closed on Sundays though.

The Polish Home will be closed for a summer break in August and will reopen in September.
