What & when is it?

These are elections to the Parliament (House / Sejm and Senate). The election in Poland is scheduled for Sunday, October 21, 2007; However, voting on the American continent is on Saturday, October 20, 2007.

Where & when can I vote in Seattle? US and Canada?

For this election there is a polling station in Seattle. You can vote at the Polish Home in Seattle from 6 am to 8 pm on October 20, 2007.

In order to be able to vote, you need to register with the Polish Consulate in Los Angeles. Visitors from Poland can present a permit to vote elsewhere obtained from their home polling station in Poland. If you have the permit, you don't need to register. Please note: the registration deadline passed on October 15, 2007.

Besides Seattle, in the Los Angeles Consular region you can vote in Los Angeles, San Jose, Phoenix,  Denver, and Houston, TX. Please check the info at the website of the Polish Consulate in LA  for details. Other possibilities include Chicago and Vancouver, BC; please note though that these cities are in other consular regions, so check the website of the Polish Consulate appropriate for the city you are interested in.

Where can I find the list of candidates?

The lists (candidates are grouped in lists by political parties) as well as additional info about voting is posted at the Polish Home in Seattle. The list of candidates is also available online. Check here to learn how to vote

I am a Polish citizen who is a local resident, how do I register & vote?

You need to put your name on the voting list by registering with the Polish Consulate in Los Angeles first. Please note that the registration deadline passed on October 15, 2007.

 When registering you can indicate where you want to vote and Seattle polling station is among available choices. You can register by mail, email, phone, fax or personally. Please follow instructions on the website of the Polish Consulate in LA. You can obtain the appropriate registration form from the Consulate website. Locally the same forms are available at the Polish Home on Friday evenings and at the Polish Church in Seattle on Sundays. Please read more info here (in Polish)

I am a Polish citizen living in Poland who is just visiting in Seattle, how do I vote?

You need to follow the regular registration procedure in Poland to obtain the affidavit of eligibility to vote that allows for voting at other polling stations than your home polling station.
