April 19, 12 noon: Mass Commemorating Katyn and Smolensk at the Polish Church - cancelled

Katyn Monument, Seattle

This event is cancelled due to the coronavirus situation.

The Polish Parish in Seattle invites everybody to the Holy Mass commemorating the 80th anniversary of the WWII Katyn massacre of Polish officers as well as the 10th anniversary of the catastrophe in Smolensk where President Kaczynski perished together with members of the Polish political and military elite. After the mass, the flowers will be laid at the Katyn monument with the Polish Scouts, guests and parishioners present. A reception with coffee and pastries to follow.

 

Where: St. Margaret’s Catholic Church in Seattle, admission free

Apr 17, from 7 pm: Movie ICARUS The Legend of Mietek Kosz at the Polish Hall - cancelled

This event is cancelled due to the coronavirus situation.

The Polish Film Club Kino OKO presents the 2019 movie ICARUS the Legend of Mietek Kosz / IKAR legenda Mietka Kosza directed by Maciej Pieprzyca and starring David Ogrodnik. The film is based on a true story of Mieczyslaw "Mietek" Kosz, a great Polish jazz pianist who went blind at a young age.

Evening schedule: 7 pm socializing & film intro, 7:30 pm screening.

 

Where: at the Polish Cultural Center Dom Polski in Seattle; admission free

Apr 1-15, Movie Corpus Christi by J. Komasa at NW Film Forum online

The Northwest Film Forum found a way to screen movies online. Hence, if you missed it, this is your chance to see the Oscar nominated movie Corpus Christi / Boże Ciało directed by Jan Komasa and starring Bartosz Bielenia. This based on a true story film shows how a freshly converted juvenile ex-convict can bring a true Christian spirit in people while impersonating a priest. The movie has been showered with awards at different festivals and was nominated to the 2020 Oscars in the Best International Feature Film category.

Apr 11: Easter Food Basket Blessing (Święcone) & Easter Triduum Services - streaming only

Many local churches offer regular streaming of daily masses and of the Easter Triduum services through their websites or YouTube channels. Unfortunately, the Polish churches in Seattle and Tacoma do not seem to do it. As far as we know, only St. Louise in Bellevue offers streaming for the Easter Food Blessing.

Apr 5, 3 pm: Young Polanie at the Seattle Inter. Children's Friendship Festival - Cancelled

Both the Youg Polanie performance and the Children Festival itself have been cancelled due to the coronavirus situation in Seattle.

April 4, noon - 6 pm: Annual Polish Easter Bazaar at the Polish Cultural Center - Cancelled

The Bazaar has been cancelled due to the coronavirus situation in Seattle. .

The Polish Easter Bazaar is an annual event organized by the Polish Women's Club / Koło Pań.

Apr 1, 12 pm: Flavor of Poland: Kraków on KCTS9

Flavor of Poland is a culinary-travel PBS television weekly series presenting the country of Poland to American viewers like they've never seen it before. Hosted by Aleksandra August, the series shows off not only distinctly Polish dishes (check out the sorrel & crayfish soup recipe!) but also the most beautiful and interesting aspects and landscapes of Poland. The series premiere is scheduled on KCTS on April 1, 2020 with a segment about gthe old Polish capital of Cracow.

 

Where: On the KCTS9 channel in the Seattle area on Wednesdays at 12 noon

 Till April 19: Agnieszka Polska: Love Bite at the Frye Museum - exhibition suspended

The Frye Art Museum presents Agnieszka Polska's Love Bite exhibition. Ms. Polska is a Polish artist who lives and works in Cracow and Berlin. She creates hallucinatory computer-generated media works that combine poetic texts, audio-visual essays and digital imagery to take on ethical problems of our times. Her works were exhibited at MoMA in NYC, Tate in London, Centre George Pompidou in Paris and other places. The exhibition runs from February 15 to April 19, 2020.
