Apr 22, 3 pm: Rafal Blechacz in Concert in Vancouver, BC

The Vancouver Chopin Society presents a piano concert by Rafal Blechacz. Mr. Blechacz is the winner of the 2005 International Chopin Competition  in Warsaw, where he dominated by winning all five major awards. The program includes Mozart, Beethove, Schumann and Chopin. A reception fwill follow the concert. Organized by the Vancouver Chopin Society (VCS). You can win a trip to Warsaw by buying tickets - more info on he VCS site.

Apr 21, 7 pm: Młynarski's Songs by S. Górka at the Polish Cultural Center

The Polish Cultural Center presents actor Stanisław Górka in a program in Polish Droga with songs by Wojciech Mlynarski & Jerzy Derfel. Mr. Górka is a movie, TV and theatre actor, known from a very popular TV series about life of a Polish parish called Plebania. His program on the American tour is a monodrama with songs, with Jerzy Derfel on piano. The restaurant will be open from 5 pm.

Apr 21, from noon, all day: Crown the Eagle - Polish Heritage Party in Portland

The McMenamins White Eagle Saloon in Portland presents Crown the Eagle Festival -  a Polish Heritage Party. The program includes Polish food, vodka tasting, live performances by Chervona band at 1:15 pm and Yazda at 4 pm, Polish School students performance at 12:30 pm, presentation on Polish immigration to Portland since 1880s at 2 pm and Agnieszka Laska Dancers at 3:15 pm; party will last till late hours.

Apr 20, 7 pm: Movie Passenger by A. Munk at the Polish Cultural Center

The Polish Film Club Kino OKO presents the 1962 drama Passenger / Pasażerka, directed by Andrzej Munk. Munk was one of the key creators of the Polish school of cinema of 1950s and 1960s along with Andrzej Wajda and Jerzy Kawalerowizc. In the movie, an accidental meeting of two women, one German and one Polish, opens a window on their shared past in the Auschwitz camp, the past that the German hides from her husband.

Evening schedule: 7 pm socializing & film intro, 7:30 pm screening

April 15, 12 noon: Mass Commemorating Katyn and Smolensk at the Polish Church

Katyn Monument, Seattle

The Polish Parish in Seattle invites everybody to the Holy Mass commemorating the 78th anniversary of the WWII Katyn massacre of Polish officers as well as the 8th anniversary of the catastrophe in Smolensk where President Kaczynski perished together with members of the Polish political and military elite. After the mass, the flowers will be laid at the Katyn monument with the Polish Scouts, guests and parishioners present.

Apr 15, 2:30 pm: Easter Egg Sharing & Egg Hunt at the Polish Cultural Center

A traditional meeting of members & friends of the Polish Home with sharing of the Easter eggs and a dinner. The program includes an Easter Egg Hunt so come with your children to have some Easter fun. Polish Home Assn. provides most of the food such as cold meat cuts, but please bring a salad or pastry to share

Apr 14 & 15, 7 pm: AL Dancers in Oregon Bird Sketches in Portland

The Agnieszka Laska Dancers present a special performance marking the 15th anniversary of the group.  The program includes 1) new choreography to choral works by Henryk Górecki and Jack Gabel, 2) new choreography to Oregon Bird Sketches with music by Gabel and video by Takahumi Uefara, 3) a premiere of Bucolics by Witold Lutosławski, and 4) Songs of Eva with music by Zygmunt Koneczny from the first program in 2003.

Apr 14, 2:30 pm: Young Polanie at the Seattle International Children's Friendship Festival

YP at the 2015 Festival

The Young Polanie ensemble will be presenting a medley of Polish traditional songs and dances at the Seattle International Children's Friendship Festival. The SICFF features performances by the children highlighting different ethnic heritages. Also, all children are invited to visit the Polish booth with an interactive cultural  display about Poland on April 14 from 11 am to 6 pm.

Apr 14, 4 pm: Movie By Stanley For Stanley at the Polish Cultural Center

Monika Meleń

The Polish Cultural Center presents a special screening of the documentary movie By Stanley For Stanley / Film dla Stasia directed by Monika Meleń. This award winning documentary carries a message of hope through a story of friendship between two disabled people, an artist and a child, sharing the same first name. The director and the cinematographer, Mr. Roman Piotrowski, will be present at the Q&A session after the movie.

Apr 9, 7 pm: Movie A Woman of the World w/ Pola Negri at the Paramount

Seattle Theater Group presents Pola Negri's film The Woman of the World screened as part of the Leading Ladies Series of silent movies running at the Paramount on all Mondays in April. Pola Negri was a Polish born star of silent movie era; this 1925 drama comedy is one of her best films and a rare opportunity to enjoy her performance. There will be an intro about Pola Negri before the screening.

Till Apr 8: Exhibition About "Inka" Siedzikówna at the Polish Cultural Center

Danuta Siedzikówna

The Polish Cultural Center presents an exhibition Unwavering, Accursed, Restored to Memory about a Polish resistance hero, Danuta Siedzikówna (1928-1946). During WWII she was a nurse with the Home Army, and after the war ended she continued as a nurse in the anti-communist underground. She wasm arrested and executed in what is recognized as a judicial killing of the day. The exhibition is organized by Krzysztof Poraj-Kuczewski.

Apr 7, 6 pm: Celebration of Mazurkas & Concert in Portland

The Polish Hall in Portland presents Celebration of Mazurkas and Young Artist Concert - a music and culinary event. In the program: young artists of Polish origin will play music that includes mazurkas by Chopin and Szymanowska. Polish mazurek cakes, an Easter tradition, will be served with coffee, tea and fine Polish liqueurs; there will be a contest for the best tasting mazurka pastry.

Apr 1: The Polish Cultural Center Closed for Easter

As is the tradition, the Polish Cultural Center Dom Polski is closed on Good Friday, March 30, 2018. The restaurant is also closed on Easter Sunday, April 1, 2018.
